Mercado Pago is a new payment method available to users who have a Mercado Pago account.

How does it work?
After going through an authorization step in the Mercado Pago app, Mercado Pago is saved as a pre-approved payment method in the Uber app.
This allows future Uber charges to be made automatically from your Mercado Pago account balance, or from a card (debit or credit) onboarded on your Mercado Pago account.
By default, we initially attempt to charge from the user’s account balance at Mercado Pago. If no funds are available in the account balance, we attempt to charge the registered cards, starting with the primary card and attempting others (in case there are any) subsequently
How to register?
If you already have an Uber account, it’s possible to register Mercado Pago with Uber in two different ways:
On Uber’s home page, go to Account > Wallet > Add a payment method. There you can find the “Mercado Pago” option. Follow the onscreen steps to authorize and register Mercado Pago in your Uber app.
When requesting a trip, you can also access the “Add payment method” menu by clicking in the Payment Method bar > Add a Payment Method. There you can find the “Mercado Pago” option. Follow the onscreen steps to authorize and register Mercado Pago in your Uber app.
I don’t have a Mercado Pago account, can I use Mercado Pago to pay for my Uber trips?
Mercado Pago is only available to Mercado Pago customers, it’s necessary to have a valid Mercado Pago account to onboard this payment method at Uber.
How can I cancel the automatic authorization of payments with Mercado Pago?
If you no longer want to keep Mercado Pago as a payment method, you can delete it through the Uber app. Follow the following steps:
Is it safer to use Mercado Pago as a payment method?
To start using Mercado Pago in the Uber app, you need to go through an authorization via Mercado Pago’s app (if you have their app installed on your device) or you can enter your login, password and a second step of verification (via SMS, Whatsapp, or phone call). With this extra step of verification, the security when using Mercado Pago is increased.

If the price of the trip changes, how is the payment going to appear in Mercado Pago?
If the final price of the trip is higher than what you initially paid, Uber generates an arrear and you will be able to pay the extra amount after the trip.
If the price was lower, you will receive a refund for the difference in a few moments.
