What is Walk & Save?

Walk & Save is a new feature that helps you get a lower fare by walking a short distance to a nearby pickup spot. By meeting your driver in a location that’s easier to reach, the trip becomes more efficient — which means you pay less and your driver spends less time driving to you.

How it works

1. Request a ride as usual.

   • Enter your destination in the Uber app.

2. Look for the Walk & Save option.

   • If available, you’ll see it in the Saver section of the product selector.

3. Check your savings and walking distance.

   • The app shows how far you’ll walk (usually a few minutes) and how much you’ll save before you confirm the ride.

4. Follow the walking route shown in the app.

   • Once you confirm, the app will guide you step by step to the pickup spot using an on-screen walking line or directions.

5. Meet your driver at the shown location.

   • When you arrive, your driver will come directly to that pickup point.

When it’s available

You’ll only see the option when there’s a nearby pickup spot that can make your trip faster and cheaper.

The feature may not appear in every trip — for example:

• There’s no better pickup spot nearby
• It’s dark, raining, or the area is less safe for walking
• You recently didn’t walk to the suggested pickup on past trips.

If the option isn’t shown, your trip will continue as usual at the standard fare.

Why your discount might not apply

The lower fare only applies when your trip starts from the suggested pickup spot. If you or your driver start the trip somewhere else, the price will automatically adjust to the normal fare.

Make sure to:

• Follow the walking route displayed in the app
• Arrive at the designated pickup before the driver
• Avoid moving your pin or asking the driver to meet you somewhere else

Important to know

• If you regularly skip the walking pickup spot, Walk & Save may temporarily stop appearing for your trips.
• Walk & Save discounts are calculated automatically based on efficiency — manual refunds aren’t provided for missed discounts.
• Always follow the safest walking path suggested in the app.
