When you place an Uber Eats order, it creates an “authorisation hold”. Temporary holds for the total of your order may be issued when you place your order, including item fee, delivery fee, and tips (if applicable).
Authorisation holds are a way for us to confirm your funds can go through successfully. These are not payment charges.
Sometimes, an authorisation hold doesn’t get processed at the same speed as the actual charge, making it appear as though you were charged twice. This does not mean you were charged twice.
Authorisation hold will show up as a “pending” charge on your bank statement. It should be voided from your payment method within 3 - 10 business days. It may sometimes take longer than that depending on your bank’s processing times or policy.
If your order was canceled, the temporary authorisation hold should reverse within a few business days. Please note this does depend on your bank and payment method.
If you would like more information on the authorisation hold, please contact your bank. They’ll also be able to give you more information about their authorisation hold process and a clearer timeframe of when the line item will disappear from your statement.
