What is an Authorisation hold?

When you request an Uber ride, you may receive a notification from your bank about an Uber charge. Uber may apply a temporary authorisation hold for the value of the fare in advance. This is standard business practice to ensure the card has sufficient funds, and most importantly, it doesn’t result in a duplicate charge on your card.

How will I know if a transaction is an Authorisation hold?

Below are signs that your charge is likely a hold: - The charge appears as pending - The charge is equal to the fare amount paid

How long does it take before the Authorisation hold is refunded to my account?

Depending on your bank’s policy, the adjustment may be reflected within a few minutes or some transactions may take up to 10 business days or longer.

What should I do if the Authorisation hold doesn’t get refunded after 10 business days?

We recommend you contact your bank directly. They’ll also be able to give you more information about their authorisation hold process and a clearer timeframe of when the line item will disappear from your statement.
