Uber Pet

What is Uber Pet?

Uber Pet allows riders to bring a pet on their ride. If you accept an Uber Pet trip, you’re allowing the rider to bring a pet into the vehicle.

Note: Uber Pet trips are for non-service animal pets. In accordance with Uber’s policies on service animals, service animals are permitted to accompany riders at all times without extra charge, regardless of whether it is an Uber Pet trip. Your federal and local laws may also require service animals to be accommodated without extra charge.

How do Uber Pet Rides work?

Uber Pet Rides work similarly to UberX rides. The main difference is the presence of an animal. You’ll earn an extra Uber Pet fee for accepting Uber Pet Rides.

Riders in available areas will now be able to reserve Uber Pet rides in advance. If a rider reserves an Uber Pet trip, you’ll be able to view your trip details, pickup/dropoff details, and fare before confirming your request.

How many pets can a rider bring?

A rider is allowed to bring one pet on an Uber Pet trip.

What kind of pets are riders allowed to bring?

Riders are allowed to bring one animal such as a dog or a cat. Any other type of animal is up to the driver’s discretion.

What if I’m allergic to a pet?

If you’re allergic to certain animals, it’s best to opt out of Uber Pet trips. However, please remember, depending on the local and federal laws in your area, you may still be required to allow service animals into your vehicle.

What if a pet makes a mess in my vehicle?

We strongly encourage you to bring a towel or seat cover to protect your vehicle when traveling with pets. There is an expected level of wear-and-tear from traveling with pets—including fur being left behind—but carrying a towel or seat cover will help prevent this. For minor issues related to pet hair, animal odor, or typical wear-and-tear, a cleaning fee will not apply. For larger messes—including urine, feces, or large scratches—drivers will be eligible for standard cleaning fees. Cleaning fees will be assessed and charged according to the extent of damage. Drivers are encouraged to contact support for such instances. Note: The rider is solely responsible for the animal and its behavior during the entire trip. In the case of incidents where car cleaning is necessary (e.g. urine, feces, vomit etc.), riders will be required to pay a cleaning fee. Drivers will be reimbursed for incidents requiring professional cleaning / repair upon providing a receipt for service.

Can I refuse a trip based on the pet type?

You have the option to cancel any ride you don’t feel comfortable with.

If you anticipate not accepting any Uber Pet trips, we suggest opting out of Uber Pet entirely. For steps on how to opt-out, see the question below.
