When you order food on Uber Eats, the fees you pay help cover delivery costs. For each order, you’ll pay for the cost of the food, and a Delivery and Service Fee, which is now subject to applicable taxes as well, to fulfil recent regulatory tax obligations accordingly*.
Delivery Fee: This fee varies based on your location. You pay less for nearby restaurants and you’ll always know how much before selecting a restaurant. Delivery-related costs considers factors such as distance, time, order value, order basket size, online merchant partners, online delivery partners, etc. in order to provide a reliable delivery experience to you on Uber Eats.
Service Fee: The service fee is calculated as a percentage of your order’s subtotal, typically before any promotions or discounts are applied.
Taxes: The tax amount displayed at checkout is an estimate. The final tax charged on your order receipt may be slightly higher or lower than the estimated amount shown during checkout.
Menu Item Prices: On menu prices, each restaurant decides how much they want to charge for their food with controls in place. Restaurant prices and offers may vary from what you see when you visit the restaurant in person.
Small Order Fees: Small Order Fees (that applies to orders with a total amount that is less than LKR 250) will be discontinued for most merchants on the platform.
For Uber One Members: You will enjoy LKR 0 Delivery Fee on eligible orders from participating merchants and extra savings on certain orders like discounted fees, promos, and credits. Please note that savings and benefits may vary depending on order type, merchant, basket size, and other conditions. Additional fees may apply on some orders and will always be shown clearly before checkout.
All your fees and the applicable taxes will be clearly specified on your checkout screen right before you confirm placing the order via the app. You can also easily view all the relevant charge details and fee breakdowns by clicking on the respective “i” icons next to the fees on the checkout screen.
The fees you pay will also be fully reflected in both your receipt for the order, and in an invoice for the charges. You can find both documents on your app under the “Orders” section when you click on every charged order.
You can always check the detailed information right before you checkout, such as estimated delivery time, delivery fee amount, applicable service fee, any merchant fees/ taxes, etc. Please note that Service Fee once incurred on an order would not be refundable except under exceptional circumstances on a case-to-case basis. Other structural adjustments to delivery charges are being made in line with real-time market changes.
Please watch out for further details with regards to the restructuring of fees and charges updated on this page in the coming days, while we continue to listen to feedback from all of you to ensure an optimal and convenient delivery experience for everyone!
