AI assistant is a new AI-powered conversational shopping experience in the Uber Eats app, currently in beta. Through AI assistant, consumers can:

  • Get help completing tasks efficiently
  • Find deals or budget-friendly meals

What to ask AI assistant

Try the following food shopping prompts:

  • Get ideas: Ask for meal suggestions, such as “Suggest popular lunch options near me”
  • Complete tasks efficiently: Specify detailed needs, such as “Find burritos under $20 that deliver within 30 mins” or quickly reorder past items like “Reorder my latte from Starbucks”
  • Find deals: Request offers, such as “Find buy one get one deal offers”

Accessing AI assistant

You can access AI assistant for free through your mobile Uber Eats app. Select the icon next to the search bar at the top of the screen in “Home” and browse pages to use the feature.

Model used to power AI assistant

AI assistant is powered by Uber’s own fine-tuned Large Language Model (“LLM”), which was built using Google PaLM. This LLM along with Uber’s catalog of merchants and search intelligence enables AI assistant’s interactive experience.

Data sharing

What’s shared and how it’s used

Your chat inputs, food preferences (such as cuisine types), and contextual signals (such as time of day) will be shared with the LLM to provide useful responses.

Uber further refines these recommendations using our location-based search intelligence. Since Uber retains information shared during your chats to train and improve this feature, please avoid sharing any confidential or personal information that you don’t want retained or used for this purpose.

What’s not shared with the LLM

We do not share your name, location, phone number, payment details, or any other personal information with the LLM unless you include such information in your chat conversation.

Keep in mind when using AI assistant

AI assistant responses may not be accurate or complete. The responses are for reference only, and not a definitive source for professional advice in legal, financial, medical, or nutritional matters. For instance:

  • Price display: Prices shown are based on item listings and exclude additional fees, taxes, or promotions. For a full cost breakdown, please refer to the total order price at checkout.
  • Delivery time: Delivery time is an estimation and may vary depending on how busy the store is, the size of your order, availability of couriers, and other factors. You can track the status of your order in the app once the order is placed.
  • Allergen, food intolerance, or religious dietary questions: Always verify allergen or ingredient concerns with the merchant or review packaging information. Uber Eats can’t guarantee any allergen-free, dietary intolerance products from merchants because they may use shared equipment to store, prepare, serve, and package food. For personalized medical or nutritional advice, please consult with a professional.
  • “Best” and “Most Popular” questions: Suggestions are based on a variety of factors, including customers’ top picks, ratings, most-ordered items, and likelihood to order, aimed to optimize the marketplace experience for users on the Uber Eats platform.

Why AI assistant shows closed stores

To include a complete discovery of our selection, AI assistant includes open and closed stores in their suggestions. Open stores are prioritized in the carousel. If you’d only like to see “open” stores, please include “only show me stores open now” in your prompt.

You can rate AI assistant’s responses using the thumbs-up or thumbs-down option.
