How ratings work
We aim to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone. Drivers and riders rate each other after a trip to maintain this standard.
- Riders give a star rating (1 to 5) and can select from a list of common issues to give specific feedback.
- Riders are prompted to rate each trip before they can book another.
- Canceled trips cannot be rated by the rider.
Checking your rating
- Open the Driver app
- Tap on the menu button (three horizontal lines) in the top left corner
- Select your profile photo
- Your rating is displayed below your name
Understanding rider feedback
- Rider comments are always anonymous. Details on specific trip ratings are confidential and not provided.
- Riders can only see their updated rating after they’ve rated you, ensuring honest feedback.
Overall rating
- It’s the average of the ratings from riders.
- Ratings not related to your performance (issues related to pickups, price, or the Uber app) don’t count towards your overall rating.
- These are automatically excluded; no need for you to take any action.
- Removal of individual trip ratings isn’t possible upon request.
When starting, every new driver has a 5-star rating, which might fluctuate after the initial few trips. The more trips you complete, the less impact a single rating has.
Importance of ratings
- Uber uses ratings to maintain high quality and fairness.
- If a rider gives less than 5 stars, they’re asked to explain so that the feedback can be constructive for yo.u
- A 5-star rating means the rider had no issues during the trip.
- Consistently low-rated drivers may face deactivation after several warnings.
- Ratings help ensure riders enjoy a high-quality service each time.
