Understanding high-demand areas in the app
The app helps you find where more riders need trips. Look for shaded areas on the map.
- Yellow, orange, and red areas (also purple areas in some cities): These colors show places with more ride requests.
How to use the map to earn more
- Go to shaded places: Drive towards colorful areas to get more ride requests.
- Surge pricing: Riders pay higher fares in these areas. You’ll earn more for each trip.
Checking surge amounts
- Zoom in on your area to see the surge dollar amounts close to you.
- Numbers on the map: Dollar amounts like $1, $2.25, or $5 indicate the amount that will be added to each trip from that area. You can confirm the amount of surge balance you have at the bottom of your screen.
- Some cities may have labels such as “high” or “very high” instead of dollar amounts.
