Under Ontario’s Digital Platform Workers’ Rights Act, you are guaranteed to earn a minimum amount for your active time on the platform.
The minimum earnings guarantee ensures that you earn at least the provincial minimum wage for all your active time in a minimum earnings guarantee pay period.
The Minimum Rate is $17.60 per hour (as of October 1, 2025). This rate is tied to Ontario’s minimum wage and will increase automatically on October 1st each year when the provincial rate is adjusted. At the end of each two-week pay period, we calculate your total guaranteed amount based on this rate and compare it to your actual earnings (excluding tips). If your earnings are lower, we’ll add the difference to your account as a top-up payment.
Active time is the period from when you accept a trip or delivery request until you complete that trip or delivery. This includes the time it takes to travel to the pickup location. Time spent online waiting for a request is not included.
For trips accepted in advance (like Uber Reserve or Trip Radar), active time begins when you start traveling to the pickup destination.
Your earnings are reviewed over a two-week pay period. If you’re eligible for a top-up payment, you’ll receive it within one week of the end of that pay period.
When calculating if you’ve met the minimum guarantee, your actual earnings include all fares, delivery fees, and promotions. The calculation does not include tips, which you receive 100% of on top of your earnings.
Example 1: Earnings are Above the Guarantee
A driver has 65.95 active hours in a pay period. Their actual earnings are $2,097.30 (excluding tips).
Example 2: Earnings are Below the Guarantee
A delivery person has 77.29 active hours. Their actual earnings are $1,075.96 (excluding tips).
You can view a detailed breakdown of your guaranteed minimum earnings and any top-up payments in the Driver App.
