Riders who use motorized wheelchairs or scooters can in certain cities request a ride in a wheelchair-accessible vehicle (WAV).
WAV drivers are certified by a third party in safely driving and assisting people with disabilities.
Here are some basics about WAV trips:
- Requires vehicle capable of loading and securing passengers using wheelchairs.
- Requires a Passenger Service and Safety (PASS) or similar certification for drivers.
- Drivers receive UberX and WAV trips.
- WAV riders require assistance and need to be strapped in, typically resulting in longer trip times.
