Our system is designed for the safety and enjoyment of everyone using Uber. Both riders and drivers can rate each other after a trip.
Rider feedback is anonymous. We don’t share details about why a rider gave a rating for specific trips to maintain confidentiality. This promotes honest feedback without bias and fairness for both drivers and riders.
Your overall star rating reflects the average of the last 500 ratings you’ve received from riders.
As a new driver, you’ll start with a perfect 5 stars, but each individual rating you get can have a big impact on your overall rating until you’ve collected 100 or more ratings. The more ratings you get, the more stable your overall rating will be.
By the time you’ve completed at least 500 trips, individual ratings will have much less of an effect on your overall star rating.
Ratings below 5 stars that cite issues outside of your control don’t count against you. We auto-remove such ratings; no need to request removal individually.
Some issues that get automatically removed from your rating calculation include:
Ratings are crucial, they help ensure high-quality experiences for riders every time. If a rider rates below 5 stars, we ask for anonymous feedback to help you understand why riders felt that way, and to give you information on ways to improve experiences for your riders.
Consistently low ratings may lead to account deactivation for any user, including riders and drivers. However, Uber will provide advance notice if your rating is approaching the threshold.
For some premium rides products, there is a fixed minimum rating to access the option. For non-premium rides, the minimum rating will depend on which city you drive in. This reflects the fact that different communities can have different norms when it comes to ratings.
