Am I allowed to use a nickname at sign up?

  • When signing up, your name must match as it is shown on your legal documents (i.e. Drivers License, ID card. Passport, Insurance, etc.).

Are there any restricitions when it comes to what I am allowed to have as a display name / nickname?

Your request may be sent for additional review if the name includes: * Anything that involves a phrase or inappropriate language/curse words. * Anything that involves emojis/special characters. * Anything that involves Uber/Uber equivalent. * Anything that involves names of public figures or cartoons. * In some regions, using a shortened or nickname version of your name may not be permitted.

I used my partner’s, relative’s, or friend’s email or phone number to sign up. Why is my account showing their name?

  • Uber’s terms and conditions do not allow sharing of driver accounts. Each driver must have their own unique account linked to their personal email and phone number. Using someone else’s contact information can cause your account to appear under their name and may create safety and verification issues. If Uber detects that a driver’s profile does not match the person using the account, the account will be immediately suspended pending investigation. Please create a new account using your own email address and phone number to continue driving with Uber.

I use the Uber Eats and Uber Rider app as a user, will my name change be reflected on those user apps as well?

  • Yes. At Uber, we encourage users and drivers to have one account. If you change your driver’s account, it will reflect on your user account, and vice versa.

NAME DISPLAY AND PRIVACY

Why do I need to have my full name on the app? Why can’t I remove my surname?

  • Uber collects your full name on the app for security, payment, and tax purposes. Only you, the driver can see your surname. To learn more about the data that we collect and why, follow Privacy Notice/Privacy Overview

Why does it show my full name on my Uber App? How can I remove it?

  • This is by design, and only you, the driver, have access to view your full name on the app.

My middle name appears on my legal documents. Is it required to include that during sign-up?

  • Yes. If your middle name is shown on your legal documents, please ensure that it is included in your last name field during signup.

What are Users able to see when it comes to your full name on the app?

  • Users do not have access to see your full name on the Uber app. Users only have access to view your first name.
