UberX Share is a new product option that offers riders discounts on their trip if they travel with another passenger. With UberX Share, riders can save up to 20% compared to UberX. Any savings will be applied to the upfront price you see for your trip prior to confirming and does not require you to be matched with a co-rider. The upfront price will be the price you pay unless the trip changes significantly due to traffic, route, tolls or other reasons outside of Uber’s control.
At the end of the trip you will be asked to pay the upfront price you confirmed in cash or non-cash.
If the system does not find another passenger with whom you can share the trip with, you’ll still enjoy excellent savings by choosing UberX Share. Its cost will be equal to the cost of a standard trip with UberX. Please note that if the second passenger first orders and then cancels the trip with UberX Share, the discount may not apply to the cost of your trip.
To make the travel experience with UberX Share enjoyable for all users, please read the rules below:
- You can only request a trip with UberX Share for 1 passenger.
- After requesting a trip with UberX Share you will not be able to change your pickup address and/or destination.
- Cancellation of a trip with UberX Share is free for the first 2 minutes after accepting it has been accepted by the driver. If you cancel your trip after 2 minutes or more, a cancellation fee will apply.
- According to the rules of travel with UberX Share, the driver must wait for you at the pickup location for at least 2 minutes. After 2 minutes of waiting, the driver can cancel the trip. In this case, a cancellation fee will be applied.
The fee will be waived for a small subset of cancellations if your driver exceeds the initial ETA by 5 minutes, if your driver hasn't made any progress towards your location or if your Driver is driving further away from the pickup location. In those instances, you will be waived for the cancellation fee and Drivers won’t be eligible for the cancellation fee.
