Redeeming vouchers FAQ

Viewing claimed vouchers

To view the status of the vouchers for each program:

  1. Sign in to vouchers.uber.com.
  2. Select the voucher program from the list on the left. The total vouchers claimed and number of rides taken or meals ordered will appear at the top of the program details.

If you’re an Uber Program Administrator on your business account, you can find more specific details about each voucher claimed by downloading an activity report under Activity on the Uber for Business dashboard.

How customers receive and redeem vouchers

How customers receive and redeem vouchers depends on whether you uploaded their name and contact information (phone number or email) when creating the voucher campaign.

If you did upload customer information, Uber will distribute the vouchers on your behalf. Depending on the information you enter, customers are notified that they received a voucher via text message, email and/or push notification in the Uber or Uber Eats app.

If you didn’t upload customer information, your company is responsible for sending customers voucher links (via email campaigns, social media posts, etc.) to let them know about any voucher program you create. Customers can tap the links to see the value of the voucher and add it directly to their Uber or Uber Eats account by accepting the voucher.

Whether or not you upload recipient information, the customer must claim the voucher (via the app or the voucher link provided). The voucher will be stored in their Uber or Uber Eats account and automatically applied to any eligible requests.

Customers always have the option to tip drivers or delivery people, but Uber Eats vouchers will only cover the maximum tip percentage you indicate when creating the voucher. The customer’s default payment method will be charged for:

  • Additional tip amounts on Uber Eats vouchers.
  • Any tips for drivers on ride vouchers. Including tips on ride vouchers will be available soon.

For additional instructions on ride vouchers, send customers the Rider Experience guide. Please also make sure you follow Uber’s brand guidelines when distributing the voucher links.

Do customers need the app to use a voucher?

For rides vouchers, your customers need to have the latest version of the Uber app installed on their smartphone to claim the voucher you send.

For Uber Eats vouchers, customers can redeem the vouchers through the Uber app or on ubereats.com.

For vouchers that can be used for other Uber products, customers can redeem the voucher through the Uber or Uber Eats app. Please note, vouchers are currently unavailable for bikes/scooter rides.

If they don’t have an Uber account, they’ll be prompted to create one the first time they open the Uber or Uber Eats app.

What if a customer is having issues redeeming a voucher?

Make sure the trip or meal the customer is trying to request meets the requirements you originally set for the voucher. If the voucher still isn’t working, you can edit the voucher program directly from vouchers.uber.com.

You can not redeem multiple vouchers for 1 campaign. Even if you have multiple voucher codes or invite links, you can use only 1 voucher for the same campaign.

If a customer redeemed a voucher but it didn’t apply to their trip or order, they should contact Support via the Uber or Uber Eats app or on help.uber.com.
