Package delivery FAQ

What is Uber Connect?

Uber Connect allows you to request a driver to transport packages to the person waiting at a designated dropoff location.

What can I send?

For packages delivered by vehicle, you can send small or medium packages that:

  • Don’t contain any prohibited items (see list of prohibited items below)
  • Don’t exceed the weight or value restrictions for a delivery
  • Fit comfortably in the trunk of a mid-size vehicle
  • Are closed, securely sealed, and ready for pickup

For packages delivered by bike or scooter, you can send small or medium packages that:

  • Don’t contain any prohibited items (see list of prohibited items below)
  • Have a combined maximum weight of 15 pounds and combined maximum value of $100
  • Fit comfortably in a backpack
  • Are closed, securely sealed, and ready for pickup

Prohibited items

Unless otherwise specified by your contract, prohibited items include, but are not limited to:

  • Alcohol
  • Animals
  • Firearms
  • Fragile items
  • Money/Gift Cards/Etc.
  • Recreational drugs

If your package contains a prohibited item or doesn’t follow the restrictions above, the driver may cancel your request.

How to request a delivery

To request a delivery:

  1. Tap the package icon in the Uber app.
  2. Select “Send a package” or “Receive a package” and enter the sender or recipients information. Remember to always fill in this information so you can activate the delivery PIN.
  3. Tap “Choose Connect”.
  4. Review package guidelines and select “Got it”.
  5. Review delivery details, select delivery options, and add special instructions.
  6. Confirm your delivery request.

You won’t be able to change the pickup or dropoff address after requesting the delivery.

The delivery PIN is a way to help confirm a package was delivered, but there may be times when it’s not possible to collect the PIN. If you activate a delivery PIN, this will be visible in your app and shared with the person who receives the item. The receiver should be ready to pick up the delivery and share the PIN with the driver.

If your package was damaged during delivery and you would like to seek a refund of the delivery cost, you must submit a photo and description of the damage within three business days following the delivery date.

Uber does not maintain insurance for packages.

Please see the Terms and Conditions for full details. Violation of the Terms and Conditions may result in deactivation of your account without notice.

Can I send someone a package as a surprise?

We recommend that you notify the recipient of the delivery so they can meet the driver at the curb to retrieve the package from the vehicle.

If you do send someone a package as a surprise you’ll need to clearly instruct the driver, in the message section of the Uber app, to leave the package at the recipient’s door. The driver can always decline this request.
