If your earnings are below the federal IRS reporting threshold ($20,000 and 200 transactions for 2025), you can still choose to receive 1099 tax forms from Uber.
To do this, update your tax settings in the Uber Driver app or the web driver portal here. This lets Uber issue 1099 forms (such as the 1099-K and 1099-NEC, if applicable) even if you don’t meet the federal minimum earnings threshold.
Opting in may help you have the documents needed to report your income or claim certain deductions, such as the federal no tax on tips benefit starting in 2025.
As an independent contractor, you may receive the following tax documents:
You can access your tax documents on your web Driver dashboard and in your Driver app by:
You can find more information on the Tax Information Page.
To receive a 1099-K, you must have met the federal threshold of more than $20,000 in gross earnings for 200 or more trips. However, certain states have implemented lower reporting thresholds, so you may receive a 1099-K for earnings below $20,000. Additionally, drivers and delivery people who have backup withholding during the year will receive a 1099-K regardless of any federal or state thresholds.
You will receive a 1099-NEC if you earned at least $2,000 in non-rider earnings, such as through referrals or on-trip promotions. You may also receive a 1099-NEC form if you earned at least $2,000 in other income, such as prizes or legal settlements.
If you meet the requirements for any of these tax documents, they will be available on your driver dashboard by January 31, 2026. You can find the documents in the driver app by:
If you opted to receive a physical copy of your tax documents, you should receive them in the mail after February 1, 2026.
If you don’t qualify for either type of 1099, you’ll still receive an Uber tax summary by January 31, 2026. This tax summary will give you the annual earnings information you need to easily file your taxes.
