What looks like an extra or duplicate charge is likely an authorisation hold.

Uber may apply a temporary authorisation hold for the value of the order in advance in your account’s payment method. This is standard business practice to ensure the card has sufficient funds, and most importantly, it doesn’t result in a duplicate charge on your card.

Uber refunds this charge as soon as your order is complete, but it can take up to 10 business days for an authorisation hold to drop. It tends to take longer to drop for Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal payment methods.
