If you see an unfamiliar Uber charge on your credit card or bank account, please review the following steps. You can also contact us with the form below.
1. Check with your friends and family to see if they have used your payment information
Unrecognised charges can often be tied back to a friend, coworker, or family member who may be using your payment information or a linked account. Please check with your family and friends.
2. Verify if the charge is for an Uber One membership subscription fee
Was the charge for Uber One (monthly membership costs NT$120 / annual membership costs NT$1200)? If you have any questions about Uber One, please click the link below:
3. Check your order history to locate the charge
You can go to the Uber Eats app’s ‘Orders page’ > ‘Past Orders’ > select the charged order > tap ‘View receipt’ to locate the charge.
4. Check if the charge is an authorization hold
When you place an order on Uber Eats, a temporary authorization hold is placed on your payment method for the total amount, including the cost of items, delivery fee, and tip (if applicable). This ensures that your credit card can successfully process the payment once the order is completed. However, Uber Eats does not actually collect this authorization amount.
All authorisation holds are voided within 3-10 business days, depending on your bank’s policy. We issue authorisation holds as a way to better protect against fraud that may result from unauthorised card usage.
For more details on authorization holds, please refer to this article.
5. Check if the charge is a small authorization hold
An unknown charge may be a small authorization hold.
Like hotels and airlines, Uber Eats pre-authorizes your credit card to ensure it can be used successfully when the order is completed.
When you place an order, we request an authorization hold from your bank, which temporarily holds a small amount. Some banks may send you a transaction notification, but this only indicates a temporary bank authorization and does not mean an actual charge has been made to your account. No additional fees will be applied.
If the order is canceled, rest assured that the authorized amount will be fully refunded to your credit card. If you have any questions about the transaction amount, please check with your issuing bank first.
If, after completing the above steps, you still cannot recognize an Uber charge on your account, please share some details here. We’re happy to review and make any necessary adjustments.
Please only submit this form once. If you have more than one unknown charge, let us know in the comments section.
