When you order food on Uber Eats, the fees you pay help cover delivery costs. For each order, you'll pay for the cost of the food, and a Delivery or Service Fee which is inclusive of applicable taxes as well.
On menu prices, each restaurant decides how much they want to charge for their food. Restaurant prices and offers may vary from what you see when you visit the restaurant in person.
Delivery-related costs considers factors such as distance, time, order value, order basket size, online merchant partners, online delivery partners, etc. in order to provide a reliable delivery experience to you on Uber Eats.
Structural adjustments to delivery charges are being made in line with real-time market changes. After 29 February, you may see a lower average Delivery Fee for each merchant on the Uber Eats app, along with a new Service Fee at the checkout page. Small Order Fees (that applies to orders with a total amount that is less than LKR 250) will be discontinued.
You can always check the detailed information right before you checkout, such as estimated delivery time, delivery fee amount, applicable service fee, any merchant fees/ taxes, etc. Please note that Service Fee once incurred on an order would not be refundable except under exceptional circumstances on a case-to-case basis.
This restructuring will not affect Uber One members, as the subscription will offer zero Service Fees on restaurant orders above Rs. 900, and non-restaurant orders above Rs. 1,200.
Orders delivered with Uber Eats include these types of fees:
* Delivery Fees: These are charges that Uber Eats collects on behalf of the restaurant on every delivery that helps to cover operational costs. Delivery Fees can vary for each restaurant based on factors like your location and availability of nearby delivery partners. You will always know how much Delivery Fee is payable before selecting a restaurant.
* Tax on the Delivery Fee: Taxes charged by the restaurant on their food sales are also applicable on Delivery Fees. The Delivery Fee is inclusive of applicable taxes and the Tax on Delivery Fee is remitted to restaurants to fulfill their tax obligations accordingly.
* Service Fee: The Service Fee will be added to every order upon checkout. You can see all fees in 'Your Cart' before placing an order in the app or online. Service Fee is a basket dependent fee (e.g. 5% of the basket size) shown to you at the time of checkout. The Service Fee would be calculated at the rate 5% of your basket size with a minimum cap of LKR 25 and a maximum cap of LKR 125.
