In order to provide a better user experience, a Delivery Fee will be applied to each order. The amount will vary based on the merchant you’re ordering from, your location, your distance between merchant, and other factors.
If the merchant is in a high demand area, meaning the area where the immediate demand is higher than the number of nearby delivery partners, the delivery fee may be higher in order to ensure you have a wide selection of your favorite local merchants during peak hours.
You can see a flash icon below the merchant’s name on the Uber Eats app if the merchant is in a high demand area and the delivery fee is higher. Also, the same icon will appear next to the Delivery Fee to remind you again before you place your order. If you are not Uber One member, you might see a “Wait & Save” option which allows you to waive the Busy Area Fee by waiting longer.
Starting mid to late June in 2023, Uber Eats will make structural adjustments to delivery fee. Users will see a lowered upfront delivery fee in general and an additional “Service Fee” item at checkout. This fee helps cover costs related to your order.
Starting from late September 2024, Uber Eats will be adjusting the delivery-related fees for grocery orders. You will see a delivery fee and a “Small Order Fee” when placing grocery orders on the Uber Eats app. The Small Order Fee applies to all users (including Uber One members and non-members) whose grocery orders’ subtotal is less than NT$200 and Costco orders’ subtotal is less than NT$750.
Please note that the order subtotal refers to the total amount of items purchased, excluding delivery fee, service fee, and any other discounts applied. Small Order Fee helps to cover the costs associated with processing your grocery orders on the platform.
User can always check the relevant publish information displayed on the Uber Eats App when placing an order, such as estimated delivery time, delivery fee amount, service fee, small order fee (if applicable), merchant, Uber One icon, and other information.
Upon confirming your order, you will be given the choice of two delivery options:
Priority – where you agree to pay an extra fee in addition to the standard delivery fee for the option of your order being delivered directly to you after pickup. If you choose this option, the estimated delivery time may be shorter compared to a standard delivery.
Standard – where you pay a standard delivery fee and the estimated delivery time is based on relevant factors impacting the time after the delivery partner picks up the order.
Saver – where you agree to have a longer waiting time but gain a delivery fee discount for your order.
Charged on orders from certain merchants (such as Costco). Prices on the checkout page are shown inclusive of an Order Handling Fee you pay to Uber Eats.
