You may be unable to request a ride for several reasons. Below are some common issues and how to resolve them.
You may have an outstanding payment with us. Follow the prompts in the app to clear it. Visit our I can’t clear a pending amount help article for detailed instructions.

After entering your pickup and dropoff locations, the app will tell you if Uber isn’t available in your area. You can check our availability on the Uber Cities page.
If there are no drivers available in your area, you can try a different product (i.e., UberX, UberXL, Uber Comfort) or ask the app to notify you when a driver becomes available.
Check for verification messages from Uber. If you don’t have any, you may need to update your account settings.
You may need to update to the latest version of the app to request rides.
Note that the software should be upgraded to Android 8 or above, only then would you be able to go online using your device. If your current device does not support the latest software version (Android 8 or above), you’ll have to use your account on some other device that has been upgraded to the latest version or supports the same.
