How tipping works with vouchers

When creating a voucher, you can set a maximum tip amount to cover a percentage of tips to delivery people for Uber Eats vouchers. Including tips to drivers for ride vouchers will be available soon.

If a customer decides to tip:

  • A driver, the full tip amount is charged to their default payment method.
  • A delivery person, the voucher will cover the percentage indicated. If the customer chooses to tip any amount over what’s covered, the additional amount is charged to their default payment method.

For example, if you enter 20 percent, the voucher will cover a tip amount up to 20 percent of the order price. If the customer selects a 25 percent tip, the additional 5 percent is charged to the customer’s default payment method.

You may want to inform customers if vouchers will not cover tips, so they’re not surprised when the tip is charged to their default payment method.
