How to use voucher templates

Voucher templates are pre-designed templates for creating vouchers that only an administrator can create. These templates contain predefined parameters like:

  • Voucher type
  • Coverage amount
  • Any applicable restrictions

Once a template is created, employees can use them to quickly create and issue vouchers. While using voucher templates is optional, it streamlines the process of creating similar vouchers. If issuing a routine voucher, a template will reduce the time required for voucher creation and increase your consistency.

Administrators can create 2 types of voucher templates:

  1. A standard template can be used to create a new voucher campaign with distribution to multiple recipients. All template fields are editable for the specific voucher.
  2. A locked template can be used to create a new individual voucher to a single recipient. All preset template fields are locked for the specific voucher and can’t be edited.

Locked templates

Locked templates allow administrators to make certain fields uneditable by coordinators who may be issuing vouchers, such as:

  • Voucher type
  • Value
  • Location
  • Timing restrictions

Only administrators can create and edit locked templates, giving them full control over voucher restrictions. Employees can distribute vouchers using locked templates by entering the recipient name and contact information with an internal memo.

Locked templates can only be distributed to one individual at a time. They can’t be distributed to multiple recipients in bulk. The recipient’s experience remains the same whether the voucher was created from a locked or standard template.

To set up a locked template for vouchers:

  1. Sign in to vouchers.uber.com
  2. From the voucher dashboard, create a new template.
  3. Select Locked Template.
  4. Customize the restrictions.
  5. Administrators or employees can now create vouchers using the locked template.

To create a voucher using a locked template:

  1. Create a new campaign.
  2. Select the desired voucher template.
  3. Customize the fields that are editable such as recipient details and duration. Fields like the voucher type and value will be locked.
  4. Send the voucher.

Voucher name will appear as “[name of recipient], [name of template].” The voucher is ready to be redeemed once sent. Both administrators and employees can create and send vouchers using a locked template.

Managing voucher templates

Access your Uber for Business dashboard to manage templates. Here, you can assign employees and require them to use templates when creating vouchers. If employees are restricted to template use only, they’ll be able to use standard or locked templates. If you want employees to only access locked templates, you must delete any existing standard templates on your account.

To delete a voucher template:

  1. Sign in to vouchers.uber.com.
  2. From the voucher dashboard, go to the Manage Templates page.
  3. Tap the template.
  4. Select Delete Template.

Only administrators can delete and manage templates.
