What is Uber Health Self Booking?
Uber Health Self Booking lets Riders request their own rides using their organization funded benefits directly through the Uber app. Organizations are able to allocate funding and set booking controls within the Health Dashboard and invite Riders to self book in their personal Uber App.This reduces the need for coordinators to book rides through the Uber Health dashboard on behalf of Riders.
What booking controls can organizations set?
Leveraging Uber Health’s member management and plan tools, Organizations can set the following booking controls and enable Riders to self book:
- Total dollar or trip allocation over a set period (daily, monthly, yearly, or a custom period).
- Maximum fare per trip.
- Maximum mileage per trip.
- Approved or restricted locations (categories or addresses).
- Allowed times of day and days of the week.
- Vehicle types (for example, UberX).
How can organizations enable Self Booking?
Self Booking is enabled at the plan level by selecting the Uber App tab on the plan and clicking the option to enable. Organizations will have the ability to choose which plans are enabled for Self Booking. Once it’s turned on, current and future Riders enrolled in that plan will automatically receive an SMS invite with an access link.
Note that if a Rider doesn’t have the Uber app, they’ll be directed to the App store to download it before accepting the invite link.
How are invitations sent and tracked?
- A mobile number is required for Riders to access Self Booking. Mobile numbers are uploaded when creating the Rider’s member profile, for more information you can visit this page: Member management and utilization tracking on Uber Health.
- If an organization chooses to make a plan self booking enabled, an SMS will automatically be sent to all current plan members. When an organization adds future members to a self booking enabled plan, members will automatically receive the invite SMS.
- Organizations can resend invitations to specific Riders or to all Riders on a plan.
- Organizations can track invitation status in the Members tab.
What happens when Riders open the access link?
Please note that riders should confirm they are running the most recent version of the Uber app before attempting to accept an invitation.
Riders will:
- Click on the download the Uber app link from the SMS and create an account (if they don’t already have one).
- Click on the invite access link from the SMS.
- Accept a HIPAA authorization.
- Enter their date of birth.
- After verification, they can view their payment methods and health benefit information.
What if a Rider enters incorrect verification details?
An error message appears. Riders can correct the information or contact their organization for help.
Why must the phone number match?
The phone number on the Rider’s profile must match the one linked to their Uber account. If it doesn’t, Riders should contact their organization to update it.
Can Riders view and manage their organization funded benefits?
Yes. Verified Riders can view their organization funded benefits in their Uber Wallet and remove them at any time if needed.
