Hourly - Driver FAQ

What is Hourly?
Hourly is a new ride option that allows riders to request a trip by the hour.

This product is only available to drivers in select cities who are eligible for Uber Comfort.

How to Opt in
Drivers who are eligible for Comfort can opt into receiving Hourly trips through the Work Hub in the Driver app. Here's how:
- Open the Driver app.
- Tap on "COVID-19" in the Menu.
- Tap on "New earning opportunities"
- Tap on "Accept longer trips with Hourly" and turn on.
- If you'd like to opt out of Hourly trips, you can turn this off any time in your Driver app preferences.
Accepting Trips
The requests will show up as Hourly on the offer card in the Driver app. The rider's requested number of hours and max trip mileage will be shown at the bottom of the offer card. Your rider is asked to call or message you to discuss trip details, including the number of desired stops, after you accept. You can cancel for any reason with no impact to your driving experience.

Making Stops
Riders may request multiple stops and update those in-app during the trip. Time spent at stops is included in the Hourly trip time, so riders will pay the same amount for your time spent waiting at each stop.

Service Area
Hourly is not yet available for trips to or from the airport, or with destinations outside your city's service area. To view your city's service area, you can visit the link below:
Trip Duration
Riders can request between 1 and 7 hours. Trips that reach 8 hours will automatically end in the app.

Pricing Information
Drivers will earn a minimum amount of at least $36 per hour, after a 28% service fee*, for each hour requested by the rider. If the trip exceeds the time and/or distance requested by the rider and accepted by the driver, drivers will earn the following overages:
Time overage: If the time traveled exceeds the requested hours, drivers will earn an additional $0.60 per minute (after service fee) on top of the minimum fare.
Distance overage: If the distance traveled exceeds the mileage selected, drivers will earn an additional per mile rate, variable by city (see below), on top of the minimum fare.

Surcharges and tolls are charged to the rider in addition to these rates. Wait Time fees are not applicable for this trip type. Driver will earn surge on Hourly trips when surge is occuring in an area.

Cancellations
Riders will pay you a cancellation fee when:
Your rider cancels more than 5 minutes after you accept their trip and you are making progress toward their pickup.
Your rider doesn't arrive at the pickup location within 5 minutes of your arrival. After that window of time, riders will pay you a cancellation fee.
The standard cancellation fee for Hourly trips is $10. Drivers will pay a 28% service fee on this fee, which means drivers net earnings are $7.20.

*On each Hourly trip, riders pay drivers $50 per hour, with a one-hour minimum. Uber charges drivers a per-trip service fee of 28%, which means drivers' per-hour net earnings will be a minimum of $36. Drivers charge time overages at $0.83 per minute, and distance overages at the per mile rate by city shown above. Uber charges drivers a corresponding 28% service fee for the time and distance overages. Therefore, drivers' net earnings on time overages are $0.60 per minute, and drivers' net earnings on distance overages are the city-specific rate, minus service fee. Rates shown are rounded to 2 decimal points, while actual rates are set at 4 decimal points.
