Stay online with Driver app

To ensure the Uber Driver app works smoothly and keeps you online, you might need to adjust your phone’s battery optimization settings. Here’s how to prevent your phone from pushing you offline when the app runs in the background.

For Android 6.0 to 6.0.1

  • Update battery optimization settings for older devices:

    1. Open your device’s Phone settings
    2. Tap on Battery & power saving
    3. Select Battery usage
    4. Turn on Ignore optimizations
  • Update battery optimization settings for newer devices:

    1. Go to Settings > Apps
    2. Select Battery > Your app
    3. Choose Optimize battery usage
    4. At the top, change the view to All
    5. Find and disable optimization for the Uber Driver app

For Android 8

  • Disable unused or sleeping apps settings:
    1. Go to Phone settings
    2. Tap on Apps & Notifications > Uber Driver
    3. Make sure Background restrictions and Background limits are turned off

Check ignore optimizations setting

Some phones have a setting for ignoring battery optimizations:

  1. Navigate to Phone settings
  2. Tap on Battery & power saving
  3. Select Battery usage > Ignore optimization
  4. If available, set Ignore battery optimization to On

By setting up your phone correctly, you can keep driving without interruptions.
