When a rider pays more cash than the fare

If a rider pays you more cash than the final fare or doesn’t have exact change, you can offer to return the difference as credits in their Uber app.

Returning change as credits

  1. After the trip ends, a confirmation screen will appear in your Uber app showing the total fare.
  2. If the rider paid a different amount, select “Other” amount and enter the amount paid.

How credits work

If you entered an amount higher than the trip fare, the difference will be automatically added to the rider as credits to their Uber account.

  • Credits can be used for future rides or orders.
  • This process does not affect your earnings.
