Requirements to sign up as a driver

You must be licensed by your local council or regulator before you can start driving with Uber, either as a private hire driver in the UK, or a taxi driver or limousine driver in Ireland.

As part of getting your licence, you must meet certain age, driving experience, and vehicle requirements to be considered, as well as passing all relevant background and medical checks. You can check details by searching for the official website of your local council or regulator.

If you meet the age, driving experience, and vehicle requirements, you will need to also provide a valid driver's licence, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance before driving with Uber.

Note that requirements to sign up as an Uber driver-partner vary by city, and you may be required to complete additional onboarding steps.
