What is Uber Reserve?

Uber Reserve lets riders request trips in advance. As a driver, you can see Reserve trip requests up to a week ahead. You’ll know the pickup and dropoff spots, as well as the fare, before you accept.

Accepting Uber Reserve trips

  • Eligible drivers can find Reserve trips, along with already accepted trips, in the Driver app by selecting Menu and then Opportunities Center.

  • This is how your filters (like UberX or XL preferences) work with Reserve:

    • Finding Trips: When you are looking for trips to add to your schedule, we will respect your current filters. This means you won’t be bothered by Reserve offers that don’t match the types of rides you want to do. The preferences you have checked will be what types of trips get offered to you for reservations.
    • Starting the Trip: Once you’ve accepted a Reserve trip, you will still receive the dispatch for it even if you change your filters later that day. This ensures you don’t accidentally lose a high-value reservation just because you turned off a certain ride type while driving on-demand.
  • Some Reserve trips will appear on the home screen when the pickup time is close to the current time.

  • Dismissing a Reserve trip offer may reassign it to another driver or may make it unavailable.

Rider cancellations

  • You receive a fee if a rider cancels within an hour of pickup and you’re online heading to the location.
  • For all ride types, you get the lower of the rider’s fare or a standard cancellation fee (service fee not included).
  • No fee if you’re estimated to be more than 20 minutes late and the trip goes to another driver.

When to go online

  • Premium options (Uber Black, etc.): Be online 45 minutes before pickup or the ride might be reassigned.
  • Economy options (Uber X, etc.): Be online 30 minutes before pickup or the ride might be reassigned.

Cancellation policy for drivers

  • Premium options: Reference your Reservation Request screen. You may be required to cancel at least 45-90 minutes before pickup to allow re-matching.
  • Economy options: Reference your Reservation Request screen. You may be required to cancel at least 30-60 minutes prior to pickup to allow re-matching.
  • Reserve Airport Pickup: If the trip is delayed due to a flight delay, your app will update to show you the new reserved pickup time. If a flight delay causes the pickup time to move to a time when you’re not available you can cancel up to an hour before the new scheduled pickup time without affecting your account.

You must be online 45 minutes before pickup (premium) or 30 minutes before (economy), or you might lose the reservation.

Lost access to Reserve trips

Riders pay an extra for the Uber Reserve experience, only drivers who consistently follow the reservations policy are eligible to select reservation requests from the Reservations section in the Driver app.

  • If the reservation policy isn’t followed, you’ll receive an in-app reminder.
  • If you missed a recent Reserve trip, please tap on the reminder to see how many misses you have.
  • If you have 3 misses you will lose access to Reserve trips.

If you lost access to Reservation trips please contact support to regain access.

If you do not see Reservation trips, suggestions for seeing more in the app may include: * Checking for reservations more frequently. * Checking for reservations at times you’re not typically online, as reservations are requested for off-peak times as well. * As more riders begin to use this feature, we expect more opportunities to become available.

Accepting other trips

You can still get on-demand requests before your Uber Reserve trip. The app tries to match you with trips leading towards your scheduled pickup.

Wait time fees

Premium options (Black, SUV, Premier): 15 minutes of wait time are included, starting at the scheduled pickup time or the time you arrive at the pickup if after the scheduled time. Any additional wait time after the 15 minutes will be paid. If the rider doesn’t show, please follow in-app guidance to get a cancellation fee minus the service fee.

Economy options (X, XL, Comfort, Green, Comfort Electric): 5 minutes of wait time included, starting at the scheduled pickup time or the time you arrive at the pickup if after the scheduled time. Any additional wait time after the 5 minutes will be paid. If the rider doesn’t show, please follow in-app guidance to receive a cancellation fee minus the service fee.
