Uber Direct: Pick up from customer

Starting in late August 2024, Uber Direct will start a new service which is picking up and delivering packages from user’s home.

Pick up packages from user

Delivery Request

  • Once the delivery request has been accepted, delivery partner will go to the package pickup location.
  • The pickup location will be the user’s home address, not a specific store address.
  • If the pickup location cannot be found, delivery partner will always attempt to contact the user through the app.
  • If the user is not available, the delivery can be canceled through the app.

Note: * We recommend that you check the instructions for package pickup and delivery in advance. * The countdown timer is not activated during pickup. Delivery partner can cancel the delivery in that case. * We recommend that you will have enough time for picking up /delivering packages.

Receiving packages

  • Packages need to be picked up from user in person.
  • Please ensure not to put the bag received from the customer inside your regular food delivery bag.
  • Delivery partners ensure ensure that pick the packages up safely and the packages are securely closed.
  • If you determine that the package is too large or too heavy to deliver, you can inform the user and cancel the delivery.

Delivery Package

Delivery Process * Delivery partner confirms the delivery request and delivers the package to the drop-off location. * If the store is closed/user cannot be found, the app’s phone function can be used to contact the user. The timer will trigger. * If the package cannot be delivered, it must be returned to the original user’s home. * If the package is too large or too heavy, the delivery can be canceled.

What should I do if I can’t find the user when I pick up the package?

  • You can try to call the user through the app’s phone function.
  • Since the countdown timer is not activated during pickup, we recommend that you always call the user at least once when you are at the pickup location.
  • We recommend that you have enough time to pick up /delivery packages.

What should I do if the package is too large or heavy?

  • If a package is too large or heavy to deliver, we can inform the user and cancel the delivery.

What should I do if the store is closed when I deliver the package?

  • You can contact the user via phone or chat through the app.
  • When you do so, a countdown timer will be automatically activated.
  • If the timer expires without a response, the received package must be returned to the original pickup location.
  • Before canceling a delivery, please be sure to contact support and explain the situation.
