Uber Teens

What is Uber Teens?

• Uber Teens is a new service that allows Teens (ages 13-17) to request Uber rides with the consent of a parent or guardian by inviting teens to a family profile.

• The legal guardian or parent adds the Teens to the family Uber profile to get started.

• Teens will have a simplified Uber account and will only be able to request Uber taxi/premium (including Premier Van).

• For safety, there are safety precautions that allow parents/guardians to track Teens’ rides and ensure that all safety features are available at all times during the ride.

• Parents can also track the ride live and receive notifications regarding Teens’ ride status.

Opt-in/out request

Drivers can choose whether or not to accept Uber Teens’ requests.

• Tap the [Settings] icon in the lower-left corner of the app
• Go to the [Ride Filters section]
• If you want to receive Teens requests, toggle the “Ride Service forTeens” toggle to ON
• If you do not want to receive Teens requests, toggle the “Ride Services for teens” toggle to OFF

Safety Features

Parents must agree to allow Teens to request a ride using the Uber platform. Some of the safety features are below.

• PIN verification: Drivers cannot initiate a ride without a PIN. By verifying the PIN, Teens can ensure that they are in the right vehicle with the right driver.

• Live Tracking of Ride Status: Parents can track Teens’ rides and confirm that they have arrived at their destination. They also receive notifications when requesting a dispatch, during the ride, and upon arrival.

• Alerts for unexpected events: Using sensors and GPS data, if it detects that a ride has deviated from its course, made an unexpected stop, or ended earlier than scheduled, a message will be sent to confirm that everything is okay.

Edit drop-off location or add a stop

• Uber Teens rides do not allow drivers to edit drop-off locations or add or delete stops.
• Only Teens have the option to change their drop-off location or add or remove a stop.

Trip with a Guest Rider

• For Uber Teens rides, Teens may accompany guest riders, but the guest riders must be at least over 13 years old.
• Underage guest riders (ages 13-17) must inform the driver that they have permission from a parent or legal guardian. All minors must ride in the back seat and wear a seat belt.
• A trip may be canceled for following situation.
  • Guest rider is under the age of 13
  • Underage guest riders (ages 13-17) say they do not have permission from their parent/gardian
  • All underage guest riders cannot sit in the back seat
  • If you cancel the trip, please inform the reason to the Rider.
