Why is my background check taking longer than expected?

Background check delays can occur for a variety of reasons. In order for Checkr to complete your background check report and provide Uber with the results, they need to verify the information with county courthouses. If a courthouse doesn’t provide electronic court records or are experiencing delays due to COVID-19 restrictions, this can cause delays. These steps are required regardless of having a criminal history or not. This does not have an affect on the outcome of the decision.

It is also important to look out for any emails Checkr may have sent you, and to regularly log into the Checkr Candidate Portal and complete and outstanding actions Checkr may have requested. Sometimes the background check can stall because Checkr needs more information to complete your report.

We’ll work closely with Checkr to get you on the road as soon as possible. You’ll then receive an email when this process is complete.

Some states may have screening requirements in addition to the Checkr background check report. These processes can take additional time to complete.

We appreciate your patience and look forward to providing more information as it’s available.
