Package delivery FAQ

Uber Direct gives businesses access to Uber’s network for requesting deliveries.

Signing up for Uber Direct

To get started with Uber Direct, fill out the form at the link below.

Once you’re signed up, you and people you add to the account can request package deliveries at direct.uber.com.

Requesting a delivery

To request a package delivery:

  1. Go to direct.uber.com.
  2. Select “New delivery” in the upper left.
  3. Enter the pickup and dropoff details (including any specific instructions for the delivery person), and contact numbers for pickup contacts and recipients. Once a delivery is in progress, you won’t be able to contact the delivery person, so make sure the details are correct.
  4. Fill out the package information, including the weight and description. To add multiple packages on the same delivery, click “Add another item”.
  5. Select “Request now”. Scheduled deliveries and multiple stops are currently unavailable with package delivery.
  6. To track the delivery, go to “Today’s deliveries”. The contact numbers you provide will receive a text message with a link to track the delivery in real time when the delivery is created.

After selecting “Request now”, an available delivery person can accept the request.

If your delivery contains a prescription or other health-related item, please don’t include information about the package contents or any personal information about the recipient in the pickup or dropoff notes or item description.

Guidelines for package delivery

Packages must follow the criteria below to be eligible for delivery on the platform:

  • Must not contain any prohibited items
  • Maximum weight of 50 pounds per package, box, or parcel
  • Must fit comfortably into a standard mid-size vehicle
  • Should be closed, securely sealed, and ready for transport

Prohibited items

Prohibited items may differ depending on your specific contract. Please use your contract as the source of truth for what items are prohibited.

The delivery person may cancel the trip at any time, including if the package contains prohibited items or doesn’t follow the guidelines above.

Canceling a delivery

To cancel an ongoing package delivery:

  1. Go to direct.uber.com.
  2. Select “In progress” on the left.
  3. On the delivery you want to cancel, click “Cancel”.

Giving people access to request deliveries

To give someone access to arrange deliveries:

  1. Sign in to business.uber.com.
  2. Invite people who will arrange package deliveries to join the company account.
  3. Let users know they’ll need to accept the email invitation from Uber for Business.

Anyone you invite can then sign in to direct.uber.com using their Uber account to arrange deliveries.

How do returns work?

When creating a delivery, you’ll see a checkbox indicating that the delivery person should return the package if the recipient is unavailable.

If you leave that option checked, the delivery person is prompted to return the package to the pickup location if:

  • The recipient is unavailable to retrieve the package or the delivery person cannot otherwise complete the dropoff instructions
  • They can’t find a secure place to leave the package

Your account will be charged for the return.

If you uncheck the return option, the delivery person may leave the item near the dropoff location if the recipient is unavailable to retrieve it.

We recommend adding detailed dropoff notes to the delivery request to help avoid any dropoff issues.

Viewing past deliveries

To view past deliveries:

  1. Sign in to direct.uber.com.
  2. Go to “Past deliveries” or “Completed” beneath “Today’s deliveries”.
  3. Click any order card to expand delivery details.

Administrators can also download an activity report, which will include all requests made on the account.
