How long do background checks take?
Typically, background checks take 3 to 5 business days.
Reasons for delays
Delays can happen for several reasons, including:
- Our vendors are confirming your information with county courthouses
- Local government processes might slow things down
Can the process be expedited?
If the background check has already started processing, we’re unable to speed up this process.
What should I do?
Stay alert for emails from our vendors. They might need additional information from you to proceed.
Some states have extra screening steps, which could extend the timeline.
I have a driver I am trying to add to my fleet, and their background check has not started
They may need to consent to the background check, or upload their driver’s license, profile photo, and licensing history.
- Have the driver log in to the Driver app or visit drivers.uber.com
- The driver will be prompted to provide consent for the background check
- Before they can consent, the Driver app might ask for additional information, such as a license history document or the driver’s social security number
- If the background check has already started, we’re unable to speed up the process. If it hasn’t started, and the driver has uploaded all mentioned documents, please reach out to support below.
