Can I provide my own background check documents?

All drivers in Canada are required to pass an annual background screening, which includes a review of your driving record and criminal history, though some provinces or cities require additional screening documents. For more information on screening requirements, visit here.

Once you have obtained the required documents, upload it to Uber Support for review. We usually review them within 5–7 business days. If it’s been longer than the timeframes above, contact our support team for assistance.

To ensure your document is processed quickly, please follow these guidelines based on your file format:

• For Paper Documents: Please provide a direct photograph of the paper document rather than a digital scan. Take a clear photo of your results. Ensure all pages are included and that the official feature (police seal, digital signature, or watermark) is fully visible.
• For Digital Documents: If you have the original PDF file, please upload it directly rather than taking a screenshot or photo of your screen.

We recommend that you choose either the background check vendor (where available) or uploading your own documents. If you try doing both at the same time, you may experience significant delays.
