Vehicle requirements

To drive with Uber, your vehicle must meet these minimum requirements:

  • Must have 4 doors and seat at least 4 riders
  • Vehicle model must be 16 years old or newer
  • Title must not be salvaged, reconstructed, or rebuilt
  • Rental vehicles are only allowed if sourced from an authorized Uber rental partner
  • No cosmetic damage, missing pieces, or commercial branding
  • Heating and air conditioning must be in good working order

If you’re driving a vehicle you don’t own

You can drive a vehicle you do not personally own, but you must follow these steps:

  1. Have permission from the owner
  2. Be listed as an insured driver on the vehicle’s insurance policy

Uber cannot allow a vehicle onto the platform if your name is not on the insurance document.

Temperature control guidelines

  • Heating and air conditioning must function properly in all vehicles
  • The driver may adjust the temperature as needed for comfort
