American Express Platinum Card® and Centurion® Card Uber Cash Benefit

You can receive up to $200 in Uber Cash annually by adding your U.S. Consumer American Express Platinum Card® or Centurion® Card (“Amex Card”) as a payment method to your Uber account.

  • Uber Cash received through Uber with your Amex Card is distributed in monthly increments of $15, plus a $20 bonus in December (for $35 total in December)(the “Amex Benefit”). The Amex Benefit can be used for rides and orders in the U.S. when you select an Amex Card for your transaction.
  • The Amex Benefit will expire at the end of each month and won’t roll over to the following month.

When your Amex Benefit isn’t enough to cover the cost of your ride or order, the Amex Card in your Uber wallet selected for the transaction will be charged the difference. If Uber is unable to use the Amex Card in your Uber wallet to complete the transaction, the Amex Benefit will not be applied and another available payment method in your Uber wallet will be charged for the transaction. The Amex Benefit will not automatically apply to rides or orders when using a business profile. To use the Amex Benefit, you must toggle Uber Cash on in your business profile, which may be restricted based on your employer organization’s setting for such profile.

Follow these steps to redeem the Amex Benefit when requesting a ride or placing an order:

  1. Enter your destination in the Uber app or create an order in the Uber Eats app or Postmates App
  2. At checkout, select an American Express Card as the payment method for your ride or order and make sure Uber Cash is toggled on
  3. Request your ride or place your order

To find your Uber Cash balance

  1. Select Account in the bottom right corner of your app
  2. Select Wallet/Payment
  3. From there, you can also view your Amex Benefit history by selecting Uber balances

You’ll receive the Amex Benefit each month as long as your Amex Card remains eligible and is a payment method on your Uber account. If your eligible Amex Card is added to multiple Uber accounts, the account to which you first added the Amex Card will receive the associated Amex Benefit.

Adding an eligible Amex Card to your Uber account

  1. Go to the Wallet/Payment section of the Uber, Uber Eats, and/or Postmates apps
  2. Select Add Payment Method and enter your eligible Amex Card information

Basic Card Members on a Consumer Platinum Card or Centurion Account are eligible. Additional Centurion Cards are also eligible. You’ll receive $15 in Uber Cash each month (plus the $20 bonus in December) for each eligible Amex Card on your Uber account.

If you do not see this Uber Cash in your Uber Cash balance within 48 hours from the time you enroll, call the number on the back of your Card for assistance.

Switching which Uber account receives the Uber Cash Amex Benefit

  1. Delete the Amex Card from all Uber accounts that you no longer wish to receive the Amex Benefit
  2. Add the Amex Card as a payment method on the Uber account where you do wish to receive the Amex Benefit. If the Amex Card is already on this account, skip this step.

The Amex Benefit will switch accounts and apply to that new account starting on the 1st day of the next month. You can always re-add your eligible Amex Card to other Uber accounts after completing these steps if you want the users to be able to pay for Uber rides and orders with the Amex Card.
