My promo code did not work

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Certain promotions have been temporarily disabled for first-time users. If you are trying to apply a promotion and have not taken your first ride yet, the promo may not apply - Please check the Payments > Promotions section of your app to ensure your promotion is valid before taking your next ride.

When you share your referral code with a friend, you'll receive a referral credit once they take their first trip.

In order for any promotional discount to be applied to a trip fare, you must enter the promo code before or during the trip.

The value of any promo code can only be applied to one trip. Any leftover value will not apply to your next trip.

Promotions may have expiration dates or only apply in specific areas or cities. To review all promo codes currently applied to your account, select "Payment" from the app menu and then tap "Promotions." Details and expiration dates of your promo codes are listed there.

Uber places a temporary authorization hold on your payment method for the upfront trip fare at the beginning of a trip. This authorization hold currently does not include the discount applied by using a promo. This is not a charge but a temporary hold that should show up as pending on your account. The final amount on your receipt will be the amount charged to your payment method.
