Background checks are performed by Uber’s third-party background check providers Checkr, HireRight, and Samba Safety, each of which is accredited by the Professional Background Screening Association.
The background check includes a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) review as well as a criminal background check. There is no credit check involved. Once the vendor has obtained all relevant information for your background check, they will provide the results to Uber to be assessed.
The evaluation of background checks vary from city to city and is based on a combination of criteria specified in local laws and regulations governing rideshare drivers, as well as Uber’s internal safety standards. Uber’s safety standards may differ from other companies’ standards and can be above local regulatory requirements.
If you received a background check report that you believe contains inaccurate or incomplete information, please follow the instructions outlined for the vendor’s dispute process here.
Please note third party vendors do not determine the standards used to evaluate eligibility to partner with Uber and are not involved in the partnership decision. Uber makes a decision based on the report (or amended report) the vendor provides.
If there has been an update that should be considered, you can contact the vendor with additional information. They will send a revised report to Uber to be re-assessed.
