Rating a driver

Ratings allow us to ensure a great experience for both riders and drivers. We take ratings very seriously. Consistent with our Community Guidelines, drivers with low ratings may lose access to the Uber platform.

Rate your driver

At the end of each trip, you’ll be able to rate your driver from 1 to 5 stars. You can also provide this rating at the bottom of your receipt.

Your rating should reflect the quality of service you think was provided by that particular driver. They won’t see the specific rating you give.

Having trouble choosing a rating for your driver? Here are a few tips:

  • 5 stars: It means there were no issues on the trip
  • 1 star: Typically means that there was a serious problem on the trip

Providing feedback

If you select a rating lower than 5, we’ll ask you to provide anonymous feedback to your driver about what could be improved. If the reason you selected a rating lower than 5 is not available, you can select Other.

Understanding a driver’s overall star rating

In general, your rating will factor into a driver’s overall star rating, which is an average of their last 500 completed trips. In some cases, we may exclude a low rating from the driver’s average when it may not reflect the quality of the driver’s service. This happens when a rating is based on factors outside of the driver’s control, such as traffic, or came from a rider who frequently gives low ratings. We do this to make sure drivers are being fairly rated on the services they provide.
