What are some store operations that may affect reliability?

We have identified some of the ways store operations can lead to canceled or missed orders:

Store closures / Excessive wait times / Store too busy

  • Store does not accept orders: For Non POS integrated stores, if the store is closed or is too busy to accept orders on the tablet. For POS integrated stores, if hours or store status are not updated accordingly.

  • Courier cancellations at store: If the store is closing/has closed or there’s excessive wait time because the store is busy or long lines at the drive- thru.

  • Consumer cancels: The store is too busy to accept orders on the tablet. For POS integrated stores, this may also happen if there’s a mismatch between POS and Uber Eats menus.

Items out of stock or no longer available

  • Store/consumer cancels: The store fails to update its menu when an item is out of stock or no longer available. This results in the store accepting the order then canceling, or the consumer cancels.

Store delays in accepting or preparing the order

  • Consumer cancels: The store does not promptly accept or prepare the order due to operational reasons, leading to consumer cancellations.

POS issues

  • POS denies the order: For POS integrated stores, this may happen if there’s a mismatch between POS and Uber Eats menu items and / or prices.
