How do I request a wait time fee refund or waiver?
Wait time fees are charged on some trips to compensate drivers for the time they spend waiting for riders and promote efficiency and reliability on Uber's platform.
Typically, riders requesting via UberX are charged a per-minute wait time fee if they don't board a vehicle within 2 minutes (5 minutes for Black or Black SUV trips) of the driver's arrival at the designated pickup location. Wait time fees and thresholds may vary by location. In certain markets, additional wait time charges may apply to your trip depending on how busy it is.
Wait time fees aren't charged to riders using the Uber WAV or Uber Assist products.
You shouldn't be charged a wait time fee if you're at the designated pickup location when your driver arrives. You can request a refund if, in the last 30 days, you were charged wait time fees when you:
- Were at the pickup location when the driver arrived;
- Needed more than the allotted time to board a vehicle due to a disability; or
- Requested a ride on behalf of a rider with a disability, who needed more than the allotted time to board a vehicle.
Wait Time Fee Waivers for Riders with Disabilities
Some riders may need more than the allotted time to board a vehicle on a regular basis. If you, or an individual that frequently accompanies you on trips, is (i) disabled within the meaning of 42 U.S.C. section 12102 and 49 C.F.R. section 37.3, and (ii) the disability impacts your or your companion's ability to board a vehicle within the allotted time after meeting the vehicle at your designated pickup location, you can request a waiver of wait time fees for your account below by making the following certification. Please allow up to 72 hours for the waiver to take effect. Should you be charged a wait time fee before the waiver has taken effect, please request a refund at the above link (“You may request a refund by clicking here.”).
I, or an individual that frequently accompanies me on trips, is (i) disabled within the meaning of 42 U.S.C. section 12102 and 49 C.F.R. section 37.3, and (ii) the disability impacts my or my companion's ability to board a vehicle within the allotted time after meeting the vehicle at my designated pickup location. I understand that this request is subject to verification and/or audit by Uber at its discretion. I further understand that Uber will use my certification for no other purpose than to waive wait time fees for my account. I also understand that Uber will not assume any additional duties or obligations in connection with this information or my certification.
