Rating FAQs

After each trip, riders and drivers can rate each other from 1 to 5 stars based on their trip experience. You can also provide this rating at the bottom of your receipt.

Ratings are always reported as averages, and neither riders nor drivers will see the individual rating left for a particular trip.

Check your rating

  1. Open the app and select Account
  2. Your rating is the number displayed under your name

Additionally, all Uber users can access a breakdown of their average rating in the Uber app’s new Privacy Center. You can follow these steps to access the Privacy Center and ratings breakdown in the app:

  1. In the settings menu, select Privacy then Privacy Center
  2. Swipe to the right and select the Would you like to see a summary of how you use Uber? tile
  3. Scroll down to the Browse your data section and select View my ratings to see the breakdown

You can also review past trip information, payment details, control marketing preferences and more in the Privacy Center.

What if I don’t see my rating? You need to take 5 trips before you’ll have a rider rating. If you don’t see a rating, it’s probably because you haven’t taken enough trips.

Tips for being a 5-star rider

Drivers frequently consider the following when rating a rider:

Short wait times

Be ready to go when your driver arrives at the pickup location. Also, be sure the pickup location you entered is accurate.

Treat drivers and their vehicles respectfully.

Drivers want to make sure everyone in their vehicle is safe, and shouldn’t feel pressured to break any laws.

Rating a driver

Your rating should reflect the quality of service you think was provided by that driver. We take ratings very seriously. Consistent with our Community Guidelines, drivers with low ratings may lose access to the Uber platform.

  • 5 stars: Means there were no issues on the trip
  • 1 star: Typically means that there was a serious problem on the trip

You can also update your rating for a driver using our Change driver rating help article.

Providing feedback

If you select a rating lower than 5, we’ll ask you to provide anonymous feedback to your driver about what could be improved. If the reason you selected a rating lower than 5 is not available, you can select Other.

Understanding a driver’s overall star rating

In general, your rating will factor into a driver’s overall star rating, which is an average of their last 500 completed trips. In some cases, we may exclude a low rating from the driver’s average when it may not reflect the quality of the driver’s service. This happens when a rating is based on factors outside of the driver’s control, such as traffic, or came from a rider who frequently gives low ratings. We do this to make sure drivers are being fairly rated on the services they provide.

Providing a rating fosters mutual respect between riders and drivers. This helps to strengthen our community.
