Keeping your Driver app updated (Android)

If you’re using an Android device, you can download the app by searching for “Uber driver” in the Google Play store or tapping here.

The latest version of the Driver app requires Android 8.0.

Before downloading:

  • If your device is not already running Android 8.0, update it to the latest OS.
  • If you’re having trouble downloading the app using your cellular data, you may need to connect to a wifi network.

Keep your app running smoothly by staying up-to-date with the latest features and improvements.

Here’s how to update

To update manually

  1. Open the Google Play store
  2. Search for the Uber Driver app
  3. Tap the green Update button

Troubleshooting

If your device displays an error like “Unable to get secure connection to server,” try either force quitting your browser app or clearing your browser cache.

Force quit your browser app

  1. Swipe up from the bottom of your screen, hold, and then let go
  2. Swipe up on the browser app to quit it
  3. You can also scroll to the left and tap Clear all to quit all open apps

Clear your browser cache

  1. Tap the menu (typically an icon of 3 dots in the upper right corner) within the browser
  2. Tap Settings > Privacy and security > Clear browsing data
  3. Select what you want cleared and then Clear data

The above steps will delete any saved passwords and browsing data.

If you encounter any errors after updating or if the app prompts you to update again, check if your phone meets all requirements.
